More Chinese comment spam

I’m getting tired of Chinese comment spam. Now they’re copying portions of my posts in an attempt to look legit. Hmpf.

2.0.2 - glad I didn’t upgrade to 2.0.1

Both sites are now upgraded to 2.0.2. The upgrade is never a hassle (major kudos to the developers), but the FTP uploading is a pain the butt.

Upgrading to WordPress 2.0

Wow, the admin area sure is pretty now.

The upgrade seems to have gone just fine (here’s a link to help with upgrading, Kristen). I was happy with the non-WYSIWYG posting text area of earlier versions, so this flashier interface is going to take some getting used to. It also seems a bit slower than before.

However, everything appears to have gone smoothly, including plugin updates. Cheers to the WordPress development team who have done a bang-up job of making the upgrade so simple.

Update: I’ve just unchecked the ‘Use the visual rich editor’ on my profile so there’s no more WYSIWYG. That was easy.

Have you been getting comments in Chinese lately, because I have

You know the Internet is going to be a sea of crap (more than it already is) when your personal weblog starts getting hit by Chinese comment spam.

Squible

Note to self: if I ever create a site that is truly zine-like, use the Squible theme. Exquisite.

New theme

I’m testing a new theme, imaginatively named Double Column. Features are a random background image, the use of unordered list tags in the sidebar (gasp!), and acquiescence to the fact that I am not a designer and the last three almost-redesigns before I settled on this one prove it.

Can’t be arsed with a screen grab this time.

krisalis, long-time MT fan…

… has moved to WordPress. Don’t worry, Krissy, WP is easy to learn and you’ll be stylin’ those themes in no time.

What’s On Xiamen redesigned

What's On Xiamen dark blue theme

It works perfectly in Opera and Firefox, then spits out the guillotine bug in IE. Apparently none of the fixes are perfect, but then neither is IE when it comes to obeying CSS2.
