All ready now

I love a long weekend (thank you Auntie Betty). The cot has now been built and moved into position. We’ve stocked up on nappies (third-hand cloth), wipes (new!), baby clothes (second- and third-hand), and blankets (new!). The hospital bag is (mostly) packed. And we got a table fan — in case it gets really hot and humid again. I think we’re set, and I officially reach full-term this weekend. How the hell am I supposed to be a mother?! Aaaauuugggghhhh!!

Hey, good luck with it all! I have an 18-month old and I still wonder how I am supposed to be a mother! You’ll be so sleep deprived that somehow it’ll all come together without you knowing about it.

Hope all goes well and hope you surviving ‘parenting in the trenches’ as someone described it to me! It seems apt.

    Cheers

No one knows how to be a mother. Good thing is that all babies need is to be fed, clothed, changed and loved. Plus, they won’t remember anyway (at least for a while lol). Good luck!

no one really knows what they are doing when it comes to parenting. anyone who says they does is full of it. you and neil are going to do juuuuuust fine. better than fine. you’ll be great parents. don’t worry. feel free to weed through all the advice people give you and stuff you read and keep the stuff you like or that sounds good and toss everything else out.

Someone I know said something along the lines of: love them, clothe them, feed them, talk to them about what makes you happy and makes you sad (also known as teaching), and the future will take care of itself. He said it much more eloquently, and it was very sweet. He has grown children, so he must know what he’s talking about!
