Stealing other people’s children
24 October 2008
Actually, I do have a story about children. We were babysitting my cousin’s kids one night in the summer. Neil was getting the older kids ready for bed and I was changing the baby’s nappy, when I heard Neil say, “There’s a naked kid out here!” Then said naked kid — who was wearing only his pyjama top — corrected him, saying, “That’s not naked! This is naked!”, and proceeded to fling his pyjama top off and then run around the hallway.
And here’s another story. Same kid made us pause a cartoon on Sky+ because, he announced, he had to go to the toilet. He then proceeded to report his every (bowel) movement, “I’m not done yet… No, I’m not done yet… Wait… Not done… Almost done… *flush*… Okay I’m done, wait for me to come back!”

Does stealing mean that you enjoyed having kids around so much that you were considering stealing them as you babysat them. By their antics they seem to be your offspring anyway. I'm a big fan..Doug

Hehe, I mean stealing the stories as though the subjects of those stories are mine. Doug, you mean you're a big fan of children?
I really like kids, but no, I don't have any. Recently been having discussions with an old school friend about the level of readiness/non-readiness and the reality of having them!

My kids are grow and gone, I'm a fan of your blog, not always of kids. My kids are great. but people shouldn't feel pressured into having kids. The saying goes if you wait till your ready to have kids you may never have them. Great stories.

I think you should stop calling NEIL akid. At his age it's not good to run around in just your pj tops tryingto out do the baby-sat kids…
a bit inthe Gary Glitter mould of fun!
