iPhone 2.0 ad that niggles me
21 July 2008
I couldn’t quite put my finger on it until last weekend — the very slick Apple ad for the iPhone 2.0 seems to (not very subtly) imply that those who rushed in to buy the first version have been totally ripped off by Apple, given the short period of time between releases (my cousin’s iPhone 1.0 is only four months old, and he’s an Apple freak). We looked at phones recently; while touchpad phones look good (Neil likes a Samsung we saw), I still love the Treos.

be warned – the samsung looks good, but the OS is hell to use.

Well, Neil is just looking and probably won't buy it as he is irrationally loyal to Nokia!

My husband has one of the Samsungs. He loves it, though I personally find it too confusing with all those options.

Apple reduced the buy in price to tempt people. If you include the cost 2 years of service in the US, the new phone costs $160 more. It might be worth it for people that would benefit a lot from the faster data rate.

i too am irrationally loyal to nokia :o) and that's probably a result of how easy to use their phones are.

I like Nokia too… easier to use. I try others but keep coming back to Nokia phones.
They have released the Apple 2 in China, but some of the web / browsing functions are locked (officially)… so you have to get the "pirate" version! Something contractual between Apple and the chinese providers / govt (I think).
