This weekend I…

  • met Derek ‘in the toon’ and had dinner at Ichiban
  • painted the spare bedroom (two tins of paint, pretty much exactly, which is good because that’s all we bought)
  • watched some bands at a local pub (where I drank less alcohol than anyone over 14 that night, and was introduced to the heaven that is a Bell’s chicken curry pie)
  • slept in (walked into the kitchen to discover that Neil had eaten half a pizza, two char siew paus, and two hot dogs our of a can of six)
  • finished the hot dogs and ate pretzels while spacing out in the living room
  • did the small weekly shop (and bought a pack of Bell’s chicken curry pies!)
  • computered till late

I’m sorry? Hot dogs? Can of six? Explain???

Hehe. There’s this Ye Olde Oak brand of hot dogs, and you get six in a can. I found the can in the fridge with only 4 hot dogs in it.

I am worried. A woman (and her man) who used to dine on Laksa, beanspouts and noodles now buys hotdogs in cans and raves about curried chicken pies which are sold in bags of four. You’ve been too long in Scotland, lassie!

Haha. That’s because, Graeme, I used to practically live on junk food and my current attempts to eat healthily are being rewarded by forays into my first love.

I can kinda cook now, so all is not lost! We make our own version of sliced fish soup and tom kha gai and tom yam and pasta carbonara (pancetta, always use pancetta) and minestrone and now I am working on a Thai-inspired salad. The repertoire is growing.
