Resolved: thingie with Amazon UK
Currently not very happy with Amazon UK. I was happy over the clearance sale advertised, and took care to order enough books (£15) to qualify for free Super Saver Shipping. Upon being notified that some of the books listed in the sale were now not available, I no longer got free shipping, so I wrote to ask how to combine orders in order to, once again, get free shipping. I got a quick response, and made a new order in order to push my order back up to £15. I then combined my orders according to their instructions, and as one book can be despatched now, I’m getting charged shipping for that one and also an extra £10 for the other books.
This is making me feel quite ripped off. As I said in my follow-up e-mail to Amazon UK, I know my order is for a low-value amount, but I ordered in good faith that the stuff they said was in stock would actually be in stock, and if the order can’t be combined the way it had been before all this stock and despatch confusion — and giving me free shipping — I want the entire thing cancelled.
Update: Amazon has waived the higher postage charge, so I still have to pay a little, but at least it’s only £0.80.
