The amazing dry ice experiment

What happens when you add liquid soap to dry ice? I love pointless science experiments that do nothing for the betterment of humanity.

I followed the link to watch the video and found the explanation of what dry ice is quite amusing. Those boys must be really talented to be able to compress CO2 into liquid. No doubt someone will correct me, but as far as I know CO2 sublimes so there is no liquid phase (hence the name dry ice). Maybe there is a liquid phase when you are going from gas to solid but that wouldn’t make sense.

If you want a really cool experiment, try adding oleum to a cup of sugar.
Oleum is concentrated form of sulphuric acid so when you pour it over the sugar it strips out the H2O. The reaction is quite vigorous and exothermic so the you get steam bubbles forming which cause a carbon tower to grow out of the cup. Cool as.
