8am on a Sunday

The Singapore Open 2006 (Ultimate frisbee) is on this weekend. One of my friends, Jackson, is arriving today to play on one of the teams. I’ve tried calling the official hotel, but his name’s not on the list of room reservations (yes, I tried Robert as well).

Jackson’s a pretty cool dude. Relaxed, pleasant, good sense of humour. We are friends with his uncle Choi in Xiamen. I’ve heard that he ‘plays for New Zealand’, whether that means he’s on a club team or represents New Zealand I’m not sure.

I’ve spotted some Ultimate players training at the track where I run. The idea of Ultimate appeals to me, but I am not coordinated enough to play a team sport. I can catch and throw a frisbee around or spot someone or run around a field, but I cannot do all at the same time.

So, Jackson, I got your e-mail and I replied, but if you don’t get it in time, I’ll try to make it on Sunday to say G’day and you can fill me in on what’s been happening. If you can catch your breath after all that running around, that is.
