Today I learned (from an ad on the back of a bus) that the Mandarin phrase for constipation is bian mi (便秘), and I can make my mother guffaw by saying that constipation is poo that’s keeping itself a secret.

err…it looks like the same character but it is pronounced as ‘bi’ as in shut, not ‘mi’ as in secret.

Jerry, according to Baidu, 便秘 (bian mi) is correct.
I’m confused too, but that post did make me laugh. My colleague says it’s bian bi. She didn’t say how it was written, though.
Let me check my China dictionary - China dictionary says it’s bian mi.
