Wake up call
You might not notice, but I have, that my last post in this category, inappropriately named ‘Exercise’ , was on 12 September. Last year. That’s not far off from the last time I remember actually doing some of it. At least I didn’t call it ‘Regular exercise’.
Tonight, we were at the track (NUS Bukit Timah). My mum, aunt, and grandfather were walking, and I decided to have a bit of a jog (as I’d promised myself I would). What do you get when you combine a lack of fitness, humidity, and mild haze (in that order)?
A short-of-breath me. Wow, that was humiliating. Old dudes jog faster than me. Fat dudes jog with more ease, more élan, even. I’m really going to have to get more jogging / running into my lifestyle, there’s no benefit to being skinny if I’m not in decent shape.
At least I can go to train at this NUS track for free. The small gym at my mum’s complex is free for me to use as well. And there is a pool. I don’t like paying to exercise. I’m so grateful I have the fortune to be able to exercise in places that aren’t choked with pollution.
We’ll have to see if I actually go do it, of course.
