Via my sister, I hope everyone signs this very important Tom Cruise / War of the Worlds boycott petition. (Update: a second boycott is here. I’ve closed comments for now. This old post is getting attention I had not imagined.

As a mother of a child with bipolar, I find Mr.Cruise to be very offensive. I hope the boys in whit coats collect him in his straight jacket very soon, before he has a chance to harm himself or others.

As a person who suffers from depression, I find Mr. Cruise disgusting in his comments and will NEVER look at his face in another movie, show, etc.
I never really like Mr. Cruise to begin with, however his attack on the millions that deal with depression and other chemical imbalances as well as his personal attack on Brooke Shields, have left me beyond words.
I will not support him or his movies!
As someone suffering the horror of severe deppression I will not spend one cent on anything cruise ever nor will i permit my children. Mr self appointed god can go to hell. I wish someone would tell the truth about his so called cult.

Wow, where are all you people coming from? For the record, I don’t really feel all that strongly about Tom Cruise (nor about the petitions), except that he seems to be a bit of a nut.
And who cares if he didn’t finish high school? Didn’t stop him from becoming a successful entertainer.

Andrea, Acting does not require ANY education. That’s why most actors were not very good in school, or sports. All you need to do to become an actress nowadays is to starve yourself.

Tom Cruise is a moron. He thinks that just because of his celebrity that his opinion on psycology and depression is GOLD? Who the fuck does he think he is. The best part was when he told MATT LOWYER that psycology was psudoscience,but isnt SCIENTOLOGY based on psycology? Then again I could be wrong,after all I only graduated from high school and havnt made any films.
It makes me sick to think that there is even one person out there who didn’t seek treatment for their mental illness because of something a self-important high school dropout said. Excercise and vitamins? Sure, those things can help, but what about the days when I was too depressed to get out of bed to even eat? He has never felt that way, he’s never suffered from depression, so who is he to judge me? Thanks to medication my life is so much better today. My life is going somewhere, and screw him for saying I’m not doing the right thing. There are some people who’s religion says that it’s wrong to have a child out of wedlock, but nobody is on TV attacking him and his brainwashed fiance for their decision. And you know why? Because it’s none of our business, just like me taking a pill every day is none of his business. And you know what? I think I’d be pretty happy too if everybody kissed my ass for dropping out of high school and being a mediocre actor.
