Mike of Progressive Boink tells us his 25 favourite memories of Sesame Street (via A Gonzo Journal). I laughed and laughed when I saw Grover’s ‘Near and Far’ when I was a kid and stifled major giggles when I imagined it five minutes ago. It’s amazing how the memories come back, isn’t it? There’s one I remember but isn’t on the list, Kermit the Frog as a roving investigative reporter.
Yesterday, Neil was doing something silly, and he reminded me of the construction crew, the Doozers, on Fraggle Rock (but his true alter ego is Beaker — meep!). Which got us talking about good and bad guys in cartoons and kid’s television shows — did you know the Smurfs never really got too big in the UK back in the day? Neil did not know that Azrael was Gargamel’s cat! Travesty!
Heh, I just saw a report that one of the top five entertainment acts in the US from Australia is… The Wiggles!

I loved reading through that list. So many memories. It makes me wish that Sesame Street would come out on DVD (at least the old ones from my childhood). Such a great show.

The wiggles used to be an excellent pub circuit band called the Cockroaches, but found more money in acting like buffoons for kids!
They do an excellent version of AC/DC’s It’s A Long Way to the Top… I have on my pc if you want a giggle…

Ah, I knew someone would bring up The Wiggles. I know people who think they’re hot.

…and was the father of baby smurf? As there was only one smurfet, mum is a given!
