Sigh. Sending couples who have no children a letter (and booklet!) encouraging them to get busy? Lack of government enthusiasm for reproductive nookie has never been the cause of low birth rates. I bet this is one of those mandatory-if-you-want-to-get-a-promotion suggestions that apparently struck civil service gold.

Now that IS funny. I still think Im on to something with the legal Gay Marrige thing though. Have 2 offspring and you can get a gay marrige …

Andrea, I think you commented on it earlier that part of the problem was with so many young couples being money hungry. Is there a tax incentive for having kids? How about a high quality state paid daycare? The gummint just needs to make sure that the tax breaks they give don’t undermine the taxes they plan to make off the offspring in 20 years.

They do give money away for people to have more children (and tax breaks). The search for the Singapore Dream (car, condo, credit card, cash, career), however, conflicts with child rearing, IMHO.
Mdmhvonpa, the government would do it if they saw enough money in it! Hehe.
