Losing control
Many New or Expectant Mothers Die Violent Deaths:
A year-long examination by The Washington Post of death-record data in states across the country documents the killings of 1,367 pregnant women and new mothers since 1990. This is only part of the national toll, because no reliable system is in place to track such cases.
…
The Post’s analysis shows that the killings span racial and ethnic groups. In cases whose details were known, 67 percent of women were killed with firearms. Many women were slain at home — in bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens — usually by men they knew. Husbands. Boyfriends. Lovers.
This is the first in a series of three articles. The big question is why all this violence occurs. I reckon that a big reason is the prospective father has no control over the situation, and violently preventing the pregnancy from coming to term is the only way they can exercise their power.

Ummm, jeeze. You would think that the guy would just move on like that sort are prone to do. Of course, the most recent and highly publisized one really deviates from these findings.
In the recent holiday slowdown here at work, I’ve been reading America’s Most Wanted (amw.com) and Crimelibrary.com. Now, I’m not a professinal criminologist, but I think, in general, people who are killing other people are out of control, rage filled, narcissistic assholes.
I thought, just based on reading what I have, that ususally when guys kill off their girlfriends, they tend to strangle them.
I wonder if these people’s families could get those cases retried in light of the Scott Peterson double murder case that just happened here (fetus counted as a human, unlike our abortion laws).
Mdmhvonpa, from the news, it seems like the bloke didn’t want to be saddled with child support, so OBVIOUSLY the best solution is murder. Ahem.
Nick, exactly. They are out of control and rage-filled, maybe even with a personality disorder. You sound like me in your reading! I think they tend to strangle them because it’s not a cold, calculated murder in the ‘hit’ sense of the word - strangling is just so much more personal. Some of the cases are awaiting trial, so I’m sure the Peterson case precedent will make a big impact.
And how about the woman who murdered the pregnant woman to steal the baby. Now that is … jeeze.
There are special names for people who do that. Mentally ill usually about covers it. Can you imagine what insanity / psychopathy would make someone think it’s okay to do that?!
I was chatting with someone today. We decided that there needs to be a male birth control system. If it was available to every male over 14, it would cut down on the number of women that decide to keep the baby and end up getting killed by the rage-aholic fathers.
