Kid in a candy store

While I was in that printing factory in Shenzhen, we were shown the company’s ‘library’ — the place where they keep spare copies of all their publications.

“Take whatever you like,” the sales manager encouraged as she walked out and left us to ourselves.

I snapshots I took do the room no justice. The place was full of books. They were mostly coffee table books, lots of stuff on cooking, crafts, Chinese culture, travel, cars, and stuff for kids. There were plenty of books on baseball.

Our original plan had been to head out to Starbucks, but we took an hour to trawl through the dusty bookshelves instead. It was heaven.

The sales manager’s offer turned a relatively boring day into a pretty damn good one.

oooh! heaven indeed! what goodies did you collect?

Was there any good porn in there?

I am envious indeed. Nothing like having the time and energy to pore through an entire bookstore… so many books, so many ideas, so little time….

I got a craft book, one about Scotland (surprise, surprise), one about classic cars, one about 50s and 60s style… and i forget what else.

Terry, there were books all about photos of naked Asian women, if that counts.
